At Systems Union it is an important part of the
way we operate to develop the business within a culture of financial
rigour.
Selene stands out as someone who responded well
to this culture from the outset. She would often approach me directly
with proposals for new marketing projects. Without fail, these proposals
were well thought through and the case for spend well argued.
Invariably, the projects were tightly linked to
defined business objectives and the proposals detailed both the
processes involved in delivery and the success criteria at each
stage. This allowed me to take an objective view of the value to
the business and, at the same time, minimised our exposure since
spend could be halted early if milestones were not reached.
Selene's commercial awareness and focus on results
combined with her ability to analyse a problem objectively and produce
a well structured plan of action meant that I rarely, if ever, turned
down one of her proposals.
